Personally, I always thought of him as being a somewhat bigger version of Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator, or maybe a bigger Ivan Drago with less of a pretty-boy face.
Actually, I was thinking of Pete Steele (rest in peace): about 6-5, but built so big that he doesn’t look tall unless you have something to put him in scale.
In fact, Pete Steele would have made a great Franks. Just slap him into a business suit and tell him to look menacing.
I agree with Kristophr. Franks would not only never pull a trigger accidentally, he’d probably reprimand any MCB agent emulating him. No, more likely he’d just punch them as a reminder. (no paperwork)
Fingers always on triggers is a very good idea, if you have 100% control and are always sent after the meanest nasties.
He is of the true old school of shooting, after all. I believe even Harbinger would have had a bit of a time shaking off the old ‘finger ON the trigger’ style of the early 20th century.
This is quite true. And while Franks is the very definition of “taciturn,” he probably wouldn’t refer to himself as such — it’d be far too wasteful of syllables for his liking.
I’m guessing that Larry has a lot of fun writing Franks because Franks is just so completely, well, Franks!

It’s easy to be bad ass when you are a hair’s breath away from being immortal/indestructible.
Pitt fights the good fight knowing he will one day die fighting. Not to say Franks wouldn’t continue to fight if he were to become mortal. Until then though Pitt takes the win in Badassery.
I’m guessing that Franks is effectively immortal. Even if he was only 14 in 1776, he’s still 250. He might even have consciousness stretching back a lot further. A lot.
With a perspective like that, normal human lifetimes must seem extremely short, and a slight further shortening them to prevent enslavement/buffet of all humanity by Cthulhu & Co. may not seem significant.
What difference does it really make in the grand scheme of things if a mayfly dies of a swat on day 2, instead of old age on day 3? It might even seem merciful, since the last part of human life is usually a miserable downhill trip.
If Franks has been hanging around since the beginning of the universe, he’d barely even notice human lives. Except the ones that piss him off.
If he believes that his killing innocents is saving literally hundereds of millions of innocents, then it’s much easier to pull the trigger on those who refuse to shut up. Franks almost certainly believes the very act of breaking silence endangers all humanity. He had a friend, and was upset at her horrible murder, so he isn’t heartless.
I’d guess he simply resolved one day that that the blabbermouths are going to die anyway. They can either go cleanly by his gunshot, or horribly, with everyone else, as lunch for the elder gods.
I will never be able to stop imagining him as agent Cobra Bubbles from Disney’s Lilo and Stitch. I know he’s not a black guy, but in my imagination he is, and voiced by Ving Rames as well.
I think Hugo Weaving would make an excellent Myers, but I don’t see him as being Franks. Like I said earlier, what Franks is kind of constrains what he should look like to much larger individuals.
As for RPG, I would hope that it (MHI) would be mainly a sourcebook and adaptable to everyone preferred RPG (Role playing game, not rocket propelled grenade). 🙂
It looks like it will be a stand alone system. That said I haven’t seen a decent DM who can’t adapt or incorporate any good system or source book into another system.
It’s looking like the system will be pretty low magic in terms of the PCs, which might be a refreshing take.

I honestly don’t know if Franks would care.
I think he would be confused by any assumption that he would pull the trigger accidentally simply because he had his finger on it.
Franks does not seem like the kind of creature that does anything accidentally.

Why is Franks using a compensated Glock? Last thing I think he’d ever worry about is recoil.
Probably MCB standard issue. He’s the type to see guns as pure tools for doing his job, and the standard issue works well enough.
