      1. Also worth noting… the monthly ebook bundle from Baen should also have Kupari’s new book, Chaplain’s war for anyone that missed it so far… and should go up for sale around August-September (though the downloads for new aren’t available til later.

  1. I’ve always wondered what it would look like to use YouTube to make a video trailer for a book.

Looks like it works! Very nice!

  2. They make it exciting. I already went through the sample chapters and can’t wait. I really love fantasy stories, especially S&S. Especially if you check old school REH where it always boils down to survive or die.

  3. Does Baen not budget much for book trailers? It looked … well … pretty cheap and uninspired to me. If I didn’t know who the author was already (which I do) and wasn’t already interested in the book (which I am), I’m not sure this would have convinced me to check it out. I’ve seen far better book trailers. It’s like watching a cheap, uninpsired movie trailer that would make me wonder if the movie was any good.

If a little self-promotion isn’t kosher in this forum then I humbly ask forgiveness in advance. As a small business, you take advantage of what marketing opportunities you can find. I work for a small production company that has recently got into book trailers. Here is a sample of our latest work for a client: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvDcafyTRdE

We also created an “in-house” trailer for a children’s book written by the owner of my production company:

We’ve only done a few book trailers so far, but we are eager to do more. We’ve already have experience with short flim trailers for our own films and others’ as well as high-quality promotionl videos for a variety of products, companies, and services.

I’ve been reading this blog for a while now (cue the “long time listener, first time caller” trope), and I recently finished the first Monster Hunter book (the next one is on my to-read list). Personally, I think an author of D-List stature needs a better trailer. But that’s just my humble opinion.

  4. I just read the EARC. I can’t believe you did what you did at the end of it. That better come full circle or I’m marching on Yard Moose Mountain with a damn pitchfork.

    1. It wouldn’t be the first book of a series if everything got wrapped up all nice and pretty. 🙂

  5. Where would one normally encounter a book trailer anyway?

(These connect-with buttons don’t work for me, and there should be one for WordPress, I would think.)
