Cyber Nuclear Book Bomb! Sakura: Intellectual Property by Zach Hill

For those of you new to this, a Book Bomb is when I pick out a good book, where the author could use some more publicity, and then we get as many people as possible to buy it on the same day, to push it as high as possible in the Amazon bestseller rankings. The higher we get it, the more new people see it, the more exposure the writer gets.

That’s a normal Book Bomb. I want this one to be our Cyber Nuclear Book Bomb! (it’ll make sense once you read the book, trust me) But this is a very special Book Bomb.  I’m asking all of my fans to share this and spread the word, and as you read on I hope you can see why I think it is important.

Our book is:

Zach was a very good friend of mine and one of the all around coolest people I’ve ever met.  He finished the rough draft of this novel three days before he died suddenly from a pulmonary embolism.

Paul Genesse and Patrick Tracy are talented authors, who were also friends of Zach’s, and they vowed to finish his last book and get it out there because Zach thought it was the best thing he’d ever written.

No matter how good you are, rough drafts still need lots of work, and working with Zach’s brother Josh, and a great team of artists (it is beautifully illustrated) and editors, they did a fantastic job. They’ve received no compensation for this. It was done as a  labor of love, and all the royalties go to Zach’s widow, Makenzie.

He was truly an extraordinary man.  I wrote about his life here: https://monsterhunternation.com/2016/01/18/in-memory-of-zach-hill/

I got to read an early version, and it is really good. I’m not just saying that because Zach was my friend (because I would totally lie for him!) but I don’t need to, because this book rocks. It’s everything that Zach thought was pure distilled awesome in book form.

It’s the story of a heavy metal singing android super star, who becomes an assassin during a cyberpunk apocalypse.  Zach lived in Japan, loved the culture, the people, and the music, and it shows. It’s ninjas, and bullet bikes, and gun fights, and jet packs, and killer robots, and lots and lots of heavy metal. This book is Zach and everything he loved.

And that’s why I want as many people as possible to see this, so they can get a glimpse into the fun, neat, guy that some of us were lucky enough to know in real life.

I don’t ask my fans for many favors, but this time I am. Please spread the word. This is a good book, and I want people to read it.

I’m launching this today (Wednesday) because Amazon stats have a long delay, so we should start see it ticking up tomorrow. I’ll keep updating the stats throughout the Book Bomb tomorrow (Thursday). Right now we are at:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #19,400 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

      1. It doesn’t have to be. If it is something he would have wanted and his wife is okay with it, the universe could be opened up to those who want to write stories in it. Maybe even make it into a franchise.

  1. Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #15,805 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#142 in Cyberpunk Science Fiction (Kindle Store)
    #169 in Superhero Fantasy eBooks
#203 in Cyberpunk Science Fiction (Books)

  2. Tsar Book Bomba detonates:

    1. I’ve read the whole thing now and about to leave a review and rating on Amazon.

This was amazing, even for someone who is not much of a metal fan.

  3. Purchased. And if there’s a GoFundMe(or something equivalent) to help out Zach’s family I’d be glad to donate.

  4. Though it doesn’t seem to match my reading tastes, given the nature of your recommendation, I just bought the Kindle version. I’m not a Freemason, but helping a widow in need seems the human thing to do.

  5. Uh oh. If we were supposed to be buying the kindle version, I messed that up. I bought the paperback.

I love this idea, though, and as heartbreaking as the story is, I hope the family finds some joy in the book doing well.

  6. The problem with the Facebook solution that with the link in the comments, nobody sees it when your post is reshared (or once you’ve got a lot of comments). Facebook screws you over no matter what you do.

  7. Bought my copy today. Favorite part so far is the weapon description in Sakura’s home “… iron-studded tetsubo war club”.

I wonder where he got the idea for that. HA!

  8. Purchased, about a third done. It’s not in my normal reading range, but good. Think a combination of “Ctl-Alt-Revolt” with “Loki’s Child”.

I saw the reference to the tetsubo, and chuckled. After reading the intro, it led to the stray thought for an RPG class of insurance agent. Go from intern to dimensional office manager! Acquire a manatee sidekick and financial manager at level 10.

  9. This is a GREAT read!

So far I just can’t put it down. It hooks you right away, grabs your complete attention and then runs away with it!

This is one of the most self-serving good deeds that I have ever done! 😉

  10. Holy Shit is this a Good Read!!!

I couldn’t put it down. I got the book to help ZH’s family out, but now that I read it I feel like Zachery and his crew did ME a favor!

Already left a five star at amazon on this.

  11. As an example of how effective Book Bombs are,
after visiting the Amazon website, I always get an e-mail from them with ‘suggestions’ for me.
Well today’s ‘suggestions’ included 2 of Zach Hill’s older books.
Good days work for the ILoH.

  12. The playlist for the chapters in this book is fantastic; now I’ll be spending money on some new music as well. Really love the book and will be checking out some of his earlier efforts as well.

  13. One of the best stories I’ve read in a long time.
It’s got a hell of an emotional kick to it, unusual for any stories about AI.
And it’s a serious cautionary tale about the dangers of communications, media companies and government acting in cahoots with each other.
Major Kudos to Patrick, Paul, and Josh for putting the finishing touches on Zach’s work.

As for suggestions about opening up the world of Sakura for other writers, I’m of two minds. It’s certainly a future universe where more stories could easily be told. But I think most people would agree that any publicized stories would need to be of the very best so as to not detract from, or water down, Mr. Hill’s work. If that standard of quality can’t be maintained, then perhaps Sakura should stand by itself.
