Songs of valor – New Anthology out Friday, with a new story by me

This is a new anthology of heroic fantasy stories, and I’ve got one that I think is pretty awesome called The Dregs.
Also, NEW BLACK COMPANY. Which if you read fantasy, is a pretty big deal.

This anthology was done in conjunction with FantaSci, so it has stories from a bunch of well known authors in it AND the winners of the FantasSci writing contest.

  1. You’re spot on, new Black Company is a big deal. I’ve been a fan of the Black Company for years. Love the title too.

    1. I enjoyed all the Black Company books. I think Larry had another anthology years ago with Glenn Cook. Do you know where is he Black company series this story is Larry?

Also, is the Dregs related to any of your current series?

      1. I don’t know where the Black Company one ties in. Haven’t read it yet myself.
The Dregs world was one that I just made up for this story.

      2. The Black company story is before the final “original” book, if I’m grasping things correctly

  2. I’m wondering if Larry will be revisiting the world that “The Dregs” is set in?

  3. Nice. I know the Hugos are now in disgrace, but it was a Hugo Anthology much like this that first got me into SciFi.

The one with “Flowers For Algerion”. Maybe back in the 70s?

An addition to this one, are there any modern equivalents to the old Hugo anthologies in circulation that anyone would recommend? I would like to sample current writers, although the ask may be too lazy or greedy.

  4. Larry,

Sorry that this is off-topic. Needless to say I’m looking forward to the anthology, but as I just (as in just this minute) finished listening to Monster Hunter: Nemesis for the 3rd or 4th time as I’m working my way through the MHI series again I had to ask a question.

When do we get the Stricken book?

  5. All that amazing talent writing for the book… and THAT’s the best cover they could give you guys?

  6. Worcester has a book store, Annie’s Book Stop, that does a lot of SF. As I just discovered, they are an outlet for Baen Books hardbacks and paperbacks. I went there and ordered a copy of Songs of Valor, so I am ordering a bit more directly from Baen and Toni perhaps gets a larger cut of the money. They do a lot of mail order.

They survived the plague and are still open. In support, since after all I am a local author, I procured two copies of each of my five most recent novels, autographed them, and took them there as donations; they sell them and keep all the money.

  8. Who is the publisher for this anthology? I’m trying very hard to not buy anything from Amazon since the Parler issue.
